Superfoods are some of the most nutritious foods we can consume. Those superiors that are properly processed and are free from heavy metals are the best foods for nutrient absorption, and detoxification as the body will naturally detoxify when given the proper nutrition.

We’ve all heard the saying “you are what you eat” well that’s not entirely true, a more accurate statement is “you are what you absorb!” This is true for food, superfoods, water, air, and supplements. That’s why it’s so important that we have healthy food including superfoods, pure water, clean air, and high quality supplements as part of our diet and lifestyle.

Green vegetable smoothie drinkI want to mention here that as far as supplementation is concerned which includes superfoods, Dr. Peter Glidden – states that one needs to get a very high quality supplement, it must be absorbable by your body, and you must get enough of it. You have to have all three elements in order to get the most benefit from your supplements and superfoods.

In this article I mainly want to focus on healthy food especially superfoods and supplementation. It is becoming more important every day that we work toward eating organic food and taking high quality supplements and/or superfoods to make sure we are getting the nutrition our bodies need.

Our food supply is being contaminated with chemicals and genetically modified organisms and healthy food is getting harder to come by. If you are unfamiliar with GMO’s then a visit to Jeffrey Smith’s site will prove very helpful to you, but brace yourself I promise you’re not going to like what you read – but read it anyway you need to know the truth!

As far as supplements are concerned, most of them are of little to no value and some may actually cause more harm than good. The same caution should be applied when buying superfoods as one needs to be sure they are getting a high quality product as not all superfoods are the same.

What I want to emphasize here is that the digestive systems of most Americans are not working as efficiently as they should for a number of reasons like stress, poor diet, lack of good probiotics in our digestive system, etc… This makes it very difficult for our bodies to absorb nutrients which can lead to nutrient deficiencies and that can lead to health problems.

This is another reason for ensuring you’re getting high quality nutrition whether it is from organically grown healthy food, superfoods, or quality supplements that can be easily digested and absorbed by the body.
